What are the symptoms?
It is a silent infection, more than 50% of women and about 20% of infected men have no symptoms and therefore can remain hidden for a long time.
Any symptoms usually appear 2-7 days after infection. Symptoms in women can be:
- Intermenstrual bleeding or after sexual intercourse
- Increased vaginal secretions / mucopurulent secretions
- Pain when urinating
- When untreated, it can spread to the fallopian tubes and cause infertility in women
How to prevent it?
- There is no vaccine that protects against gonorrhea.
- It is important to always use condoms when having sex and undergo regular checkups
How is it treated?
- For diagnosis it is necessary to make a cervical and / or vaginal swab. It can be easily treated through the use of antibiotics.
